A few weeks ago my computer started going haywire. I figured out that I had vundo since I would get this pop up window from norton antivirsus telling me I had vundo B and that problem was not fixed, since access was not granted. Also specifies the location: C:\windows\system32\gebyx.dll

Eventually a week ago my computer started running like normal. I've been using firefox so I though that was helping. Now it's going haywire again. Naturally at a very inconvient time since I'm in the middle of applying to graduate school and using my computer to study for the GRE's. I've done every imaginable scan and adware remove program. I've also done the norton vundo removal tool and I think the mcaffe one. Both didn't even find the virus on my computer. Seems puzzling since I keep getting popups from norton telling me I have it.

The microsoft anitvirus scan detects the vundo virus and deletes it, but by the time i restart it's already reinstated. It must not be getting the excutables for the virus.

Basically the main problem right now is that my CPU ususage is a lot higher then normal causing my computer to run really slowly and freeze. I'm new to the hijack log thing, so I hope I ran it right.

If anyone can help me that would be wonderful, I'm a wee bit stressed over being able to work on my grad aplications.

Allison

Download, install & launch - Webroot SpySweeper (Trial) (8.3 MB)

When SpySweeper starts, please accept any prompts to update definitions.

Then configure it as followed:
  • From the left pane, click Options
  • Select the Sweep Options tab & ensure the following are ticked:
    • Sweep Memory
    • Sweep Registry
    • Sweep Cookies
    • Sweep All Users accounts
    • Do Not Sweep System Restore Folder
    • Enable Direct Disk Sweeping
    • Sweep For Rootkits
  • After that's done, select Sweep from the left pane & click on the Start button
  • Allow Spysweeper to reboot your machine to remove the infected files.
After rebooting, launch SpySweeper & select Results from the left pane
Click the 'Session Log' tab & choose Save to File to create a log.

Post that in your next reply along with a new HJT log.
