I rate myself a modest computer hack. I've been working with computers since the first TRS-80. And when it comes to simple and moderate tasks, I can do it. When it comes to registry items, BIOS stuff, networks, etc.... not for me.
Here is my problem:
I continually get AntiVir attacks (Congratulations.... You Have Won!). I shut down, reboot into Safe Mode and run MalwareBytes. That usually finds the rogue virus and kills it. All is usually good for 24-48 hours and then I get it again. Wash, rinse, repeat.
I get hosed by visiting innocuous sites like Amazon or MSNBC (well, you make the call on that one).
Recently, even without the AntiVir fake stuff, I continually get lots of redirects. Even when visiting this site.
I keep CA running on my computer. I also run MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware every other day. I even paid for a registered copy of MBAM and still got hosed while it was running in the background - not to mention that MBAM slowed all browsing down to a painful stop as it seemed to analyze each page.
Windows Firewall is up and there is most likely a firewall on my router. I am wired on a desktop.
I followed the Prep Guide and have attached my logs (along with HiJackThis). However, I was not able to get GMER to run. It kept shutting down - even after a few reboots.
I am running XP SP3
An analysis would be appreciated.
