so for whatever reason for the past 2 weeks msiexec.exe has been starting up trying to install roxio media manager. I cannot uninstall this fron the add remove programs. I cannot install anything such as hijackthis or anything like that.

I also cannot boot into safe mode effectively because my laptop screen is broken and my monitor hookup doesnt seen to work in safe mode. ( I would imagine in safe mode I could effectively remove this nuisance.)

what am i to do? It eats up my system resources and its just annoying.

also, Im not sure if this matters but my firefox gets hijacked once and a while from spam sites, well it will redirect me basically, Im not sure if msiexec.exe has anything to do with this. just curious.

Thanks for your help!!

Can you run msconfig? If you can, try to end msiexec at startup.

Download Autoruns for Windows: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx
No installation required.
Simply unzip Autoruns.zip file, and double click on autoruns.exe file to run the program.
Go File>Save, and save it as AutoRuns.txt file to know location.
You must select Text from drop-down menu as a file type:

I can't tell, if your issue is connected, but the computer is infected.

I suggest, you start in "Am I Infected?" forum.

Now that you have posted in the Am I Infected forum, I am closing this thread...to avoid possible confusion.

Good luck .
