I have a client's machine that will freeze after logging into the machine.

AFter logging in, I can run any application and it will freeze with the hour glass remaining on.

I have disabled all of the startup programs within msconfig, and still the machine will freeze.

If I log into safe mode with networking, the freeze does not happen. While in safe mode, I have checked the Event Viewer, but there isn't anything that I can see that would indicate what the problem is.

Can anyone suggest some troubleshooting techniques?

Check to see if the logs are full this will usually happen if the logs are full. If they are not then try creating a new account, and if that fails you might be infected.
