Firefox is frequently redirecting Google searches to different web searches and occasionally opening up random web pages while the browser is open. I've run Spybot S&D, Lavasoft's Ad-aware, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, and Spyware Doctor with no change in the behavior. I also did everything in the "Slow Computer/browser? Check Here First; It May Not Be Malware" post (even though that's not really a solution to my problem). I've also followed the Preparation Guide for posting as well. Some of the redirects are:
hxxp://walnutcreekinn.com/
hxxp://magneticenergy.com/search.php
hxxp://mapfree.com/search.php
hxxp://igmaonline.com/search.php
Below is the DDS file per the Preparation Guide.

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.
  1. Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
  2. Please Do not Attach logs or put in code boxes.
  3. Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
  4. Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
  5. Do not run anything while running a fix.

In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Options. If you click on this in the drop-down menu you can choose Track this topic. By doing this and then choosing Immediate E-Mail notification and then clicking on Proceed you will be advised when we respond to your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine.

Note** If you are having problems posting the complete log into this thread upload them here http://www.rapidshare.com/ and post the links in this thread

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

I order for me to see the status of the infection I will need a new set of logs to start with.

!!POSSIBLE ROOTKIT ACTIVITY DETECTED!! =)

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I was out of town. When I tried to run the RKUUnHooker windows started opening in Internet Explorer and I couldn't run the file. I rebooted in safe mode and ran the Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware and a Spyware Doctor scan. When I rebooted in normal mode, I was able to run it and haven't had any popups or redirects yet (but i haven't done any web searches either). I hope pasting everything into the post was what you were looking for and not attachments. That's how I took the instructions in the reply anyway. Thanks for your help.

Greetings

One or more of the identified infections is a Backdoor Trojan. - TDSS rootkit

This could allow hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and download and execute files.

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC could be compromised and there is no way to be sure that your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:

How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud?
When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall

We can still clean this machine but I can't guarantee that it will be 100% secure afterwards. "If you would like to continue, then follow the steps below, otherwise please let me know"

I Would like you to do the following.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

Run Combofix:
Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode.
This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:
The Recovery Console was successfully installed.
    Please continue as follows:
    • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
    • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the report in your next post:

    C:\ComboFix.txt

"information and logs"
In your next post I need the following
    1. Log from Combofix
    2. let me know of any problems you may have had
    3. How is the computer doing now?

Gringo

:Run CFScript:

I am going to have a few files uploaded for review please be connected to the internet for this process

Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the box into the window:

CODE
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/330570/google-searches-redirecting-and-pages-loading-automatically/?p=1845124

File::
c:\windows\system32\drivers\cesthgo.sys
c:\windows\system32\drivers\ytkoar.sys

Folder::
c:\documents and settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Application Data\ifblkpgat

regNull::
[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-602162358-113007714-1801674531-1004\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved\{8188B4DB-0F7F-B5BF-A2DA-AA5129BA652A}*]

Save it to your desktop as CFScript.txt

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe

This will let ComboFix run again.
Restart if you have to.
Save the produced logfile to your desktop.

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

NOTE**
  • When ComboFix finishes running, the ComboFix log will open along with a message box--do not be alarmed. With the above script, ComboFix will upload files to submit for analysis.
  • Ensure you are connected to the internet and click OK on the message box.

let me have this report please

I tried running that file and it froze on step 3. i closed it and tried to do it again and it said there was a newer version of the ComboFix so i updated it. i tried it again and the last i saw it was on step 5. i left it to do its thing and when i came back there was just a black screen. I waited for about an hour and it didn't do anything so i shut it off. Now it won't load Windows. It goes to the screen where you can select the Recovery or start Windows.

Hello

Sorry for the delay.

Have you tried to go into safe mode?

Boot into Safe Mode

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
  • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
  • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.

Let me know

It booted. When Windows opened, ComboFix was running and said:

Preparing Log Report.
Do not run any programs until ComboFix has finished

but my normal start up programs (Outlook, Messenger, Rocket Dock) opened so I closed them.
