My computer is around two years old but the RAM is no longer avaiable.

The RAM I currently have is 512MB DDR2 533MHZ PC2-4200U.

I have been advised that any DDR2 RAM will be fine to replace it. So I bought DDR2 1GB 667MHZ.

It says on the pack that it is compatible with PC2-4300 533MHZ. But I have PC2-4200 533MHZ.

It is this compatible with PC2-4200U?

The memory should work as long as you have the right size for a desktop versus a laptop.
