I have a dvd-rom drive. It recognizes dvd's and tries to play them in Windows Media Player, but I get no video or audio. I am getting generic title and chapter labels, but nothing more. I can use explorer to view the contents of the disc, but it won't play. If anyone can help, I would be forever grateful.

OS: XP Pro
DVD-ROM Hitachi (GD-8000)
Windows Media Player 10.

Welcome! With the information given, it sounds like a codec problem.Go here:www.free-codecs.com and download the codec pack. Also there is a small utility called gspot available from www.snapfiles .com that will look at a file and tell you what you need to play it. Good luck, and let us know.
