hi all
well picked up a virus ,killed my task manager internet and added a bunch of porn shortcuts, had Malwarebytes, installed so I ran a scan, had to reboot and when I did the chkdsc screen came on and xp is on a loop, chkdsk goes to 20% on step 2 (which is verifing indexes ) and as soon as it gets to 20% it will reboot and if I go to safe mode it does the same thing, one more thing can not get f8 to start safe mode f5 is the only way to get in safe mode, I did a console recorvery and that did not help ,tryed a windows repair, but when it reboots after loading all the files,I get the chkdsk screen,so the repair can't resume,so I'm stuck can't get xp windows to open normaly or on safe mode anybody got any ideas other than a clean reinstall. Thanks Raner

I'd check the hard drive...and try the chkdsk /r command from the XP Recovery Console...if I was fairly sure that it wasn't a malware issue.

If I felt that it was a malware issue...I'd post in the Am I Infected forum.

I will move this to the Am I Infected forum.
