I have been reading everyone's AVsoft and AV Security Suite threads and I am stuck with my own problems. The infected laptop is running WinXP MCE SP3.

1. I have successfully? run Rkill and got a log of .exe files that were stopped.
2. I have tried to run Malware Bytes to no avail.
It seems like the version I have downloaded from Cnet doesn't contain the mbam.exe when it installs.
I tried the mirror and got it to install only to start the scan and be killed by what I figure to be additional malware that Rkill didn't catch. When I try to restart MBAM, windows says the mbam.exe is gone and it is no longer in the program files\malwareblahblah directory. I have tried repeatedly to install malware bytes with the same, aforementioned results.

I don't want to try the combofix without direction.

Please help.
