My wife's laptop seems to be affected with a Malware claiming to be AVS. I've tried opening this site to download rkill, but continually get redirected to another bogus site claiming it's an IE warning. Then more popups show up. I'm able to Alt-F4 to kill each popup, but can't get further than that. I'm also unable to get to Task Manager to try to kill the program thru "End Process". What do I do so I can kill this bogus AVS??
Thx CraSch

Try downloading and using the SUPERAntiSpyware Portable Scanner in safe mode. Save the randomly named file (i.e. SAS_1710895.COM) to a usb drive or CD and transfer to the infected computer. Then double-click on it to launch and scan. The file is randomly named to help keep malware from blocking the scanner.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.
