Windows 7 upgrade clean install

So im running windows vista sp2 and i want to get windows 7 because i need to reformat my computer but i lost the disk (i got a lot of viruses). If i buy the upgrade version can i still do a clean install?

Thanks for the link. When I "custom install" will it delete all the viruses that were on my system before the install?

Yes It will delete everything and recreate system partitions that are requird to install windows 7 this is known as a "Clean Install"
