I was infected with Antivirus 2010 a few months ago. Using the instructions here I was able to use Rkill and Malware bytes to remove the offending problem. I then purchased Malware bytes Professional. Well, I was surfing and had protection turned off and apparently got infected again with something new. I just happened to run the Malware Bytes full scan and it came up with a few infections. I then removed them and ran the updater. Yes i know I should've ran that first. Well upon re-booting when the program asked me to it seemed to re-boot fine but once in Windows it actually wouldn't allow me to do anything, not even ctl-alt-del I then did a hard power down using the power button, I booted into safe mode and ran Rkill several times and then ran Malware bytes. It came up with somethings which it removed. It still freezes. I put that log below as well Interestingly. I can log into another use account and the PC seems to run fine. However I've tried running Malware bytes when running in the infected user account and it still finds nothing. Below are the logs as requested except for ark.txt . When I ran GMER it ran for about 3 hrs and finished but when I tried to "Save" it locked up and stayed frozen. Thanks for any help.

Can you run Gmer with only the SECTIONS option checked.

If that fails then run it in safe mode.

I ran Gmer in normal mode with only that one box checked. but when i tried to save it, it hung my computer and I had to re-boot. I then ran in Safe mode and have attached the log.

i actually was able to get Gmer to run in normal mode albeit I did it after killing some apps running as it seemed to be low system resources that prevented it from saving last time. I've attached both logs. ( I hope)

Please run Combofix

Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop making sure you rename it comfix.exe
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. (Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive.)
  • Double click on Comfix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

I attempted to follow the instructions to stop any AV/malware processes. In fact I had uninstalled Panda and Bit Defender since I was no longer using them anyway. I used Windows Remove Software to uninstall. I have rebooted and checked inside task manager to see if there were any recognizabl programs related to AV/Malware running in the background. I didn't see any so i tried running Comfix after checking systray as well. It keeps warning that Panda Antivirus 2007 is running but yet I can't see it running anywhere. I've attached a screen shot of my task manager process list. Thanks.

Panda must have left behind components visible to Combofix.

Try this uninstaller which should remove those remnants.

Please run Combofix one more time using the following instructions

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the box below into it:

c:\documents and settings\Mary Borchardt\Local Settings\Application Data\jreeepist
c:\program files\ImageMaker

"securityproviders"="msapsspc.dll, schannel.dll, digest.dll, msnsspc.dll"

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as Comfix.exe (called ComboFix.exe in the below graphic)

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply.

FYI, I'm currently running ESET, it's about halfway through and has found 4 infections. I'll be going out for the day but will respond with results later. Thanks for the help so far.
