windows 7 64bit ram question

how much ram should i get if i upgrade to windows 7 ultimate ?

i ahve 2 laptops one with 4gb of ram running windows 7 32bit

and another with 2gb ram running windows 7 32bit

im wanting to upgrade my 2gb ram to windows 7 ultimate is 2gb sufficient or would i be better increasing it and why ?

Widows 7 32 should run just fine with 2 gigs of quality ram and windows 7 64 will just love 4 gigs or more.

thanks yes but my windows 7 32 has the 4gb its the other laptop with 2g with the 64bit and its teh 2gb one im upgrading so you suggest upgrading it to 4gb for the 64bit ?

I would use at least 4 gig on 64 bit systems. A 32 bit system will not see or be able to use all of the 4 gigs but it will run great with 2 gigs.
