I recently installed windows 98 on a hard drive meant for windows 2000 or above, and when I try to install windows xp on it it gives me an error screen. How would I clear the hard drive so that I could install Windows XP on it?

BTW the hard drive is being installed in an acer aspire if that helps at all.

Well first when it asks you to select a drive to partition, my hard drive isnt being recognized ( and therefore not showing up). Then when i click the up arrow on my keyboard to try and see if it will let me highlight any options it gives me the "a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent any further damage to your computer" error screen. then it just stays like that until i manually shut it down

How large is the hard drive?

How large is the Win 98 install?

How much unallocated space remains on the drive?

Is the hard drive properly reflected in the BIOS?
