My computer had an infection from AntispywareXP, plus possibly more virus'. I was able to clean out some of the Virus using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (Mbam), so I can atleast use the computer. However, my computer takes a long time to boot during startup, while on the Internet while occasionally auto open a window to strange web addresses and attempt to infect with another virus. When using search engines I am unable to click on links because I get redirected to a different web address other then the address I originally clicked. I also routinely get an AVG remote shield alert advising that my computer is infected with a virus. I have found that the AVG remote shield alert usually will start to pop up after AVG starts a scan of the computer, and then once started I continue to get remote shield alerts about every 30 seconds. When the remote shield alert starts popping up I have found that if I restart the computer the remote shield alert doesn't pop up until the next scheduled AVG scan.

I have tried to clean my computer using Spybot SD (which it found a few things to clear out), Mbam, AVG, and Adaware. Other then the few things Spybot SD found that one time, they all say my computer is clean. I attempted to perform scans in Safe Mode, but non of the .EXE files work. At one point I thought the problem might be AVG so I attempted to remove AVG completely using the ADD/REMOVE program in the Windows Control Panel, however the AVG program wouldn't get removed.

I have backed up my computer on a WD external hard drive, but I'm affraid I might have any/some of the Virus' backed up on that drive now. I have attempted to use GMER twice to get the Ark.txt file but my computer has completely froze both times, requiring a manual system shut down and reboot of the computer. On the second attempt I noticed that AVG remote shield alert was triggered during the GMER scan and I received three remote shield alerts before the system froze.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

I have attached the Attach.txt file and below is my DDS scan:

I am now starting to get more frequent Remote Shield Alerts. I will attempt again to get the Ark.txt file.

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.
  1. Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
  2. Please Do not Attach logs or put in code boxes.
  3. Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
  4. Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
  5. Do not run anything while running a fix.

In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Options. If you click on this in the drop-down menu you can choose Track this topic. By doing this and then choosing Immediate E-Mail notification and then clicking on Proceed you will be advised when we respond to your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine.

Note** If you are having problems posting the complete log into this thread upload them here http://www.rapidshare.com/ and post the links in this thread

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

I order for me to see the status of the infection I will need a new set of logs to start with.

Hello Gringo, Thank you!

Here are the new DDS.txt and RKUnhooker scans; attached you'll find the Attach.txt file. I have tried four times to run the GMER scan but each time I get three Remote Shield Alerts, and then when I click save my computer locks up.

DDS.txt:

Hello

I Would like you to do the following.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

Run Combofix:
Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode.
This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:
The Recovery Console was successfully installed.
    Please continue as follows:
    • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
    • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the report in your next post:

    C:\ComboFix.txt

"information and logs"
In your next post I need the following
    1. Log from Combofix
    2. let me know of any problems you may have had
    3. How is the computer doing now?

Gringo

Gringo,

My only computer is the infected computer, which I am still able to use at this time (even with all the glitches). Once I run ComboFix will I need to have access to another computer for us to continue? Also I noticed the C:\ prompt in your last message for posting the report from ComboFix. Will I need to work in DOS?

Gringo,

Okay, good. I'm only so-so computer literate so please bare with me smile.gif I'm getting all of my virus, spyware, adware, and Malware programs closed before I do the scan. I use the Windows Firewall, will I need to take that down as well before I run the ComboFix scan? If so then I will unplug the computer from the internet while the Firewall is down.

Gringo,

I can't seem to find the "TeaTimer" check box in SpyBotSD so that I can turn it off. I have seen "TeaTimer" running in the past so I'm sure it's on the computer.

Gringo,

1) Okay attached is the combofix log.

2) During the scan ComboFix found a rootkit running so it restarted the computer and then started the scan again.

3) I restarted the computer and it seems a little faster, so far no resident shield alert pop ups. However I don't usually get those until AVG does a scan of the computer. I have restarted AVG and the Windows Firewall is up so let me know if I need to take them down again. I was able to find "TeaTimer" and it is still off; I wasn't sure if I should download the ResetTeaTimer.zip file that was mentioned in the section about disabling the anti-virus, firewall, and Malware section. I haven't downloaded that file so the entries in TeaTimer have not been removed yet.

Greetings

I also ran some quick searches on google and the search redirect that I was experiencing hasn't reappeared yet. thumbup2.gif

Good That cleaned up some bad guys but I see some other stuff that we need to go after, so I want you to run this custom script for me.

:Run CFScript:

Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the box into the window:

CODE
Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\securityproviders]
"SecurityProviders"="msapsspc.dll, schannel.dll, digest.dll, msnsspc.dll"

DDS::
uInternet Settings,ProxyOverride = <local>;*.local
uInternet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:5555

Save it to your desktop as CFScript.txt

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe

This will let ComboFix run again.
Restart if you have to.
Save the produced logfile to your desktop.

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

"information and logs"
In your next post I need the following
    1. report from Combofix
    2. let me know of any problems you may have had
    3. How is the computer doing now after running the script?

Gringo
