I am new to linux and I am taking a class for school over it and my teacher has given me an assignment that I am at a complete loss about how to do so any help you guys gave give me would be much appreciated.

I am using Fedora 2 here is the question that I am stumped on.

I am supposed to use the vi editor to create a file in the /backup directory (which I have already made) called backup.sh.

Then I am supposed to add a tar command to the file that creates a full backup of the system to a file called backup.dat. I also have to redirect the standard output from this command to a file called backuplog.txt and redirect the standard output from this command to a file called errlog.txt.

I am so frustrated and confused on what to do. Any help will be much appreciated.

I am in no way a linux expert, but I do work for a school. Have you sat down with your teacher and asked for help? Copy and paste your work here and let our team see what isn't right. Ando, we can't just paste you an answer here. That wouldn't really be helping you and its also unethical. Post what you have and we will see what we can do.
