Referred from here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/326101/https-tidserv-request-2-popup-persists/ ~ OB

NOTE the problem is a browser search redirect! Internet works good, I can go straight to sites saved in my bookmarks, but when I use Yahoo search, after a couple tries on one search topic, the search redirects to a Google search page with an unrelated web search result, or when clicking on search results, redirects back to the search results page. I am using Firefox.

Hi m0le I am anxiously awaiting fix intructions. I am still getting redirects, now mostly to a Google "site not found" or similar message when trying to search from Yahoo.
Thanks so much!

Okay, let's do this. Please download and run OTL so we can start to reverse the malware hijack
  • Download OTL to your desktop.
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
  • Under the Standard Registry box change it to All.
  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
    • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply.

Run OTL

Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

CODE
:OTL
IE - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings: "ProxyServer" = http=127.0.0.1:1049
O4 - HKLM..\Run: [] File not found
[2010/07/03 00:02:44 | 000,000,304 | -HS- | M] () -- C:\WINDOWS\tasks\nsgzjk.job
[2010/06/17 12:17:44 | 000,110,592 | RHS- | C] () -- C:\WINDOWS\System32\kernel32E.dll
:Commands
[RESETHOSTS]
[EMPTYTEMP]
:reg
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\exefile\shell\open\command]
""=""%1" %*"

Then click the Run Fix button at the top

Let the program run unhindered.

When done it will say "Fix Complete press ok to open the log"
Please post that log in your next reply. Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTL\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Okay, that's encouraging.

Please let me know if that changes and in the meantime run ESET's online scanner

I'd like us to scan your machine with ESET OnlineScan
  1. Hold down Control and click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
    ESET OnlineScan
  2. Click the button.
  3. For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
    1. Click on to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
    2. Double click on the icon on your desktop.
  4. Check
  5. Click the button.
  6. Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  7. Leave the top box checked and then check
  8. Push the Start button.
  9. ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  10. When the scan completes, push
  11. Push , and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
  12. Push the button.
  13. Push
NOTE: If no malware is found then no log will be produced. Let me know if this is the case.
