I am using win. xp sp3 with a realtek sound card installed. my pc keeps randomly losing sound when i play music and movies. im using my dvd home theatre speakers connected to the dvd player and the sound card is conneted to the dvd player via auxilary.

My speakers are working fine with the dvd play back.

Is it a sound card problem thing or what?

Forget the DVD...are the sound functions otherwise...satisfactory?

Playi music using headphones?

Try computer speakers with the soundcard output?

I'd try running the sound troubleshooter in each of those modes.
