I am using a dual boot configuration Windows XP Professional and Vista Ultimate on another partition. I have a third partition D: which is a storage and back up partition. On this I have a folder that contains all my downloads which was accessible from both systems.

I have been fiddling with the permissions of the download folder as I want to access it also from another computer using Windows 7 on my network. This "sharing business" did not succeed.

However, I am now unable to access the download folder from XP and it shows the download folder as empty and double clicking on it gives an access denial message.

Any idea how I can reinstate and be able to access this folder from Windows XP as before?

Thanks for any tips in this direction...

You can always format it to FAT32 (first backup your files of course) and let it be that way, as its just download folder...
