Hello,

My laptop got infected couple of days ago. Since the internet connection is longer working (or kept being redirected to another site of their choosing), I downloaded combofix.exe from a computer at work and saved it on my flash drive. When I tried to open this file on my laptop, it wouldn't open. Instead, I kept getting combofix.exe is infected and can not be open message. I saved combofix.exe on a CD and tried to run it on my laptob but encounterd the same message. I searched on this forum how similar problem was resolved in the past but couldn't find one. I apologize in advance if I am asking again. Would you please direct me how I can run combofix from my flashdrive or cd and remove the virus from my laptop? Also, how can I logon to combfix website without being re-directed to weird sites.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,

Combofix doesn't have a website. If you found one, it is fraudulent. Please read this topic: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/273628/combofix-usage-questions-help-look-here/ concerning the use of ComboFix.

Regarding your infection issues: Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to try to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
