Can I get a tutorial or Step by Step instructions on how to make something that scans for viruses and other BS. I have no problem making my own database of viruses, I just need to know how to create a program that scans for what I tell it to...

I have Visual Basic Express 2010, so I would appreciate instructions for that. Time is no option, so even if you give me step by step instructions on how to do it using notepad, I won't care, as long as it works. You will get credit for helping!!

Wow. You waited a whole 24 minutes....

A little advice on your path to becoming a programmer. Whining about not getting help and showing a complete lack of patience are a good way to get all of your posts ignored.

Well thanks for being mean about it :thumbsup:

I've searched all over the internet and the only answers I get are "Its too much work"
Im not talking large scale virus scanner though, I just want something small and personal to test out.
I can make a virus (technically not a virus though) Now I want to make an Anti Virus

In very simple words :
A virus infects a file and inserts its own code into a file, changing the file in a particular way. You experiment with the virus and find out the general code alternations in various files for that virus - determining the virus signature. An anti-virus opens a file and looks for that virus signature. If signature string matches then you got the infected file. There are many ways signatures are generated and many ways of how a file is scanned. Then there is a possibility of curing a file (if you study how the virus infects and changes a target file and then study how you can undo those changes).

All he's saying is patience is a virtue. I'm not sure exactly how in depth you want to go Anti-virus wise, but if you may try looking at the source code for some open source anti-virus. One of the biggest ones is Clam AV

FindFirstFile();
FindNextFile();
FindClose();

I hope I was fast enough

Actually, the OP said that “time is no option” (which I believe was supposed to be “time is not an object”), so the impatience is confusing. :thumbsup:
