When I click in the preview pane of MS Outlook, on an email from only a couple of people, I get a small window that opens saying "Installing Microsoft Office 2000". If I let it run, eventually it says it can't find the components, to install the disk and continue. ( I have installed the original disk and let it run and it still says it cant find the components) I can stop it and close the installation window and just read the email normally.
It doesnt do it for all emails, only one from a couple of people.
Whats going on here?
I have Windows XP
thanx

What components is it looking to install from Outlook?
In the beginning there was the command line.

OK the first box that opens says "Microsoft Installer", "Preparing to install", which changes to " Microsoft Office 2000", "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office 2000". Then, "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD ROM or other disk that is not available. Insert the 'Microsoft Office 2000 Premium' disk and click OK."

I just don't know what it is looking for or why this message comes up only when I try to open emails from two different people. They are the only ones, all other emails dont come up with this message.
Thanx

Have you tried uninstalling, then reinstalling Outlook?

Repairing it by using the Office disk?

Is there anything unusual about these emails?
Attachments that others dont have maybe?
Unusual fonts? Anything?

What happens if you insert the office cd when it requests it and browse out to the location of the cd?
In the beginning there was the command line.

hamluis, I have not tried reinstalling Outlook, mainly because I would like to save everything that I have in my various email folders. If there is a way to save all that and re-install, I don't know it.

Eyesee, I dont know if there is anything ususual about the emails, I will however ask the two senders, my mom and my sister, if they have special fonts or signatures. I have inserted the original disk when it requests it but it comes up with the same message "the feature you are trying to install is not on the CD". Perhaps the Outlook program is not on that CD, come to think of it.

An interesting problem, anyway....

I don't use Outlook, but there are plenty of instructional webpages available on how to save .pst files, for Outlook users.

Outlook is part of Office
Are you giving it the Office 2000 cd when it asks?
In the beginning there was the command line.
