Should I be concerned about it? I just came back from having a pretty bad and annoying virus. I got it randomly once about 3 or 4 hours ago and then I went to safe mode to do some scanning with some anti spyware and malware scanners. Then when I was finished, I went back on regular log in and when I logged in, about 3 minutes after log in, this popped up: Posted Image

It looks legit and all, but...just to be safe I came here to make sure. It says Microsoft Corporation but you know how viruses are, maybe the real publisher just says Microsoft and the virus put "Corporation" behind it to make it look legit and...I dunno. I'm just making sure. So I just need a quick yes or no. Yes for it being fine, perfectly legit and I should just unblock it, or No its not what it looks like and i should block and keep working on cleaning up my computer.

I would recommend you at least get an MRT member to look at some scans in your topic here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/325286/virus-explorerexe-process-cant-run-when-i-log-in-only-shows-background-picture/ before you do anything hasty.

I'd say you jumped the gun on declaring the problem resolved. I recommend you go back to AII. If you want, I can ask for help specifically for you in case your topic has fallen out of the loop.

Let me know what you want to do...

Yeah, I definitely jumped the gun, I still have this damn thing, but the worst part of it is gone, the attacking part. This rootkit i tell you... its damn impossible to get rid of. I tried Malwarebytes to get rid of it, Spybot S&D, SUPERAntiSpyware, Spyware Doctor (or something), BitDefender, ComboFix( yeah i know i used it without permission, but it saved my computer when the worst of the virus was attacking), and UnHackMe. I thought UnHackMe would get rid of it for sure, its a pretty good program, but it failed to do so. I also ran HiJackThis and removed all the bad programs and stuff from the list. I even did some manual stuff to try and get rid of it. Also scanned in safe mode, also did a system restore, nothing helps. I honestly think there's no way to get rid of this virus that doesn't include reformatting. Hell, I bet even if i reformatted i would still have it...this things a beast...I've decided to just ignore the rootkit until I have time to reformat or maybe somehow find a way to get rid of it since it's really not doing any harm at the moment. Except when I'm playing Crysis, I hear a windows pop up message sound in the background, but when i minimize, there's nothing there. Also today there was this eerie music playing and 2 people saying stuff, a ladys voice and a very low voice, and once again, I minimized, and there were absolutely no programs or anything running, so it was definitely the virus playing it. I dunno what the voices were saying, but it was kinda creepy O_o.

Best thing now is to get a deeper look. Please go here....
Preparation Guide ,do steps 6 - 9.

Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9,which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.
If Gmer won't run, skip it and move on.
Let me know if that went well.

Hello Colma,

I see that you are having problems posting your logs. The infection you have is causing that. You are likely unaware that you have posted 7 topics with incomplete logs. I have retained this one: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/327296/to-boopme-colmas-log-reports-rootkit-problem-continued/ as the most complete and deleted the other 6.

Now that you have posted a log, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a MRT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the MRT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the MRT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the MRT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another MRT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

Please be patient. It may take several days to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible. I advise checking your topic once a day for responses as the e-mail notification system is unreliable.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.

Orange Blossom
