HI,

Browser hijacked; pop-ups for "registry defender", "Stopzilla", "PC security shield". Getting constant popups for "Just in time debugging" (the initial reason an infection was suspected). Symantec anti-virus and windows firewall in place and appear to be running, but Symantec doesn't find anything. security.symantec.com online scan finds nothing, eset online scan found some things.

Followed "How to remove winfixer/..." instructions on site based on symptoms, malwarebytes found and "repaired":

================================Malwarebytes log ==========================

Symptoms still there.

Ran ESET online scan and got:

C:\Documents and Settings\maryb\Local Settings\Temp\uiywmp.exe a variant of Win32/Cimag.CO trojan cleaned by deleting - quarantined
C:\Documents and Settings\maryb\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\708NPN72\s002106201317r0409Rf7b4cf8bX933e2ee7Ydf2f26c2Z0100f070[1].pdf JS/Exploit.Pdfka.OAU trojan cleaned by deleting - quarantined
C:\WINDOWS\maswsp.dll a variant of Win32/Cimag.CO trojan cleaned by deleting (after the next restart) - quarantined
C:\WINDOWS\system32\6to4v32.dll a variant of Win32/Wimpixo.AA trojan cleaned by deleting (after the next restart) - quarantined

Ran ccleaner and repaired registry and cleaned up files.

Symptoms still there.

Ran steps to prepare for your assistance, things seemed to work until I ran GMER; I tried to run it 3 times, and the system froze up due to 100% CPU usage each time and I could not save the results (Or the system froze before the scan completed). Looking at process explorer, 1 or two wuauclt.exe tasks were using (round numbers) 50% of CPU, explorer.exe at 40%, and system processes at 10%. Finally gave up and ran GMER under save mode, log is here.

I've tried a number of things, and I MAY have beat this. If I am still having trouble, I will re-port with new logs etc.

Thanks,
