Rerun HJT,and put a checkmark beside these :-

Right click the running icon of Spywareguard, it will open the program. Click Menu, file, exit, and confirm the programs close.
it can stop HJT from working properly.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [dplayx] C:\WINNT\System32\dplayx.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [196_150_ni] C:\WINNT\System32\196_150_ni.exe

update the program with the latest definitions. Setup the program
following the instructions here and then close it without running a scan.

Reboot into Safe Mode

Then please run Ewido security suite, and perform a full system scan.
Remove anything found,

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report

* Click Save report
* Save the report to your desktop.

then reboot normally, and post a new HJT log, and the scan log from Ewido.

I completed the steps prior to rebooting in safe mode. When I attempted to delete the files while in safe mode, I was unable to locate them. Is it possible that they are hidden? If so, do I need to do something to expose these files?

you need to show hidden files :-

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

then have another look for them.

My apologies for the slow response time. I've been out of town quite a bit lately. After revealing the hidden files, I was still unable to locate the following:
C:\WINNT\System32\dplayx.exe
C:\WINNT\System32\196_150_ni.exe
C:\WINNT\System32\197_150_ni_1.exe
A similar file to the first did appear, but I was unsure of what to do. It appeared as C:\WINNT\System32\dplayx.dll. Here is the fresh Hijack This Log and Ewido File.

sorry for not replying sooner, for some reason i'm not getting email notifications.

dplayx.dll. is safe, leave that one alone.

hijackthis has taken care of the others, but we had to check.

that looks clean now. :thumbsup:

DISABLE SYSTEM RESTORE run your anti virus, when you get the all clear
restart your system restore.(same page).then create a new restore point :-

click START\ALL PROGRAMS\ACCESSORIES\SYSTEM TOOLS\SYSTEM RESTORE. click on "create new restore point"
click on NEXT and follow the prompts.

this is to ensure that if you have to do a system restore in the future that you don't get all the nasties reinstalled again.

Then :-

Download CCLEANER

then run the scan under the windows tab.

then DEFRAG your C:\ drive.

to help speed up your system.

then let us know how the computer is running.
