Hello Ajay A,

Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
  • This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
  • After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
  • Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
  • You will first be presented with a warning.
    It should look like this

    VundoFix V2.13 by Atri
By using VundoFix you agree that you are doing so at your own risk
    Press enter to continue....

  • At this point press enter one time.

  • Next you will see:

Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\rqroo.dll
  • Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.

  • Next you will see:

Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.

  • At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):C:\WINDOWS\system32\oorqr.*
  • Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.

  • The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
  • In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:
    O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {6DD0BC06-4719-4BA3-BEBC-FBAE6A448152} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\rqroo.dll

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: rqroo - C:\WINDOWS\system32\rqroo.dll
  • After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
  • Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!
  • Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.
Download and install Cleaner here CCleaner is a freeware system optimisation tool. That removes unused and temporary files from your system.

We need to change some of the default settings.

Install and run CCleaner

Click Cleaner button (top left, paint brush Icon)

Under Cleaner settingsClick the Windows tabSelect the followingPosted Image

Click Options button. (bottom left, pen and paper Icon)Click the Advanced tabUncheck "Only delete files older than 48 hrs."
Click Cleaner button (top left, paint brush Icon)Then click Run Cleaner button (bottom right)
The first time you run cleaner a popup box will appear "This process will permanently delete files from your system. Are you sure you wish to proceed?" Check the "Do not show me this message again" box, click OK

Click Exit button (top right) when finished.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Your log shows evidence that you are using: BPS SPyware & Adware Remover

false positives work as goad to purchase; company is known adware distributor; exploits name SpywareBlaster; Ad-aware rip-off; Spybot S&D rip-off;
old version was same app as Real AdWareRemoverGold, Spyware Nuker, & TZ Spyware Adware Remover; new version uses "Spyware Cops" or "Spy Striker" front end

Read link here for full review.

I recommend that you uninstall it, I can give you some good FREE alternatives later.

If you decide to uninstall it please download WinSockFix . If you loose your connection to the net after the uninstall use this tool to get your connection back.

hi bilko. i followed your steps and created the new hijackthis log. i am also posting the vundofix.txt file here. but i was unable to do the online ActiveScan because there still seems to be some problem with my internet explorer. it causes an error and shuts down usually when i click on some items. but otherwise i am noticing the difference in my machine. thx for the help

Hello Ajay,

The vundo infection has been dealt with

I'm not sure what the problem is with Internet explorer just yet. Can you please give me the exact error message you are getting, or is it just closing down without warning. We are going to try another tool to look a little bit more.

Save Silent Runners to your desktop and double click on it to run. This will make a file called something like "Startup Programs (UserName) DateTime.txt". Double click on it, so it'll open in Notepad. Post the text here.

Please follow the instructions provided, you may want to print out these instructions and use them as a reference.

First:
Please download ewido security suite it is a free version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  • The program will now open to the main screen.
  • When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  • You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
    • Then click on Start Update.
  • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
(the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
ewido manual updates

Once the updates are installed do the following:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.**
    • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
    • If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
    • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
    • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite.
**(Ewido for example has been flagging parts of AVG Anti-Virus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk")

Reboot in normal mode and post a new log from HJT, Ewido report and the log from Silent runners.

hey bilko. i am so relieved that the virus is out  . now just internet explorer problem is left. well, as you were asking about the error message, i don't get any such message though. it just says that internet explorer caused an error and needs to shut down, and then i am left with two options, whether to 'send the report' or 'don't send'.

i went through the new steps that you gave me and here are the reports below.

Hello Ajay,

BPS SPyware & Adware Remover is on Spyware Warrior's Rogue List.
Uninstall this program!

BPS SPyware & Adware Remover provides false positives make it difficult to ascertain whether the messages the program delivers are real or not, thereby make the program unreliable.
I believe this program is causing your problem. When you have uninstalled it, reboot and post a new HJT log. Let me know how its running now.

THANKS SOOOOO MUCH BILKO :D. My comp is running perfectly.

i had actually already deleted BPS software before i posted the HijakcThis log to you. but i guess that 1 dll file was left behind. i ran through the site and got to know that i will need lspfix to remove. so i thats how i removed the file and got my internet explorer working properly.

Also, i just wanted to ask you that what softwares should i be using in place of BPS? because you said that you would suggest me something better later on .

Thanks once again.
