Computer freezer after connecting to internet

A couple of weeks ago my computer started running slow and seems always to be processing something. When it is not connected to the internet it runs fine. Once i reconnect my network plug the starts processing then after twenty minutes or so it locks up and I have to press and hold the off button to get it to work again.

What should I do?
