Hello,

I am getting a pop-up, a "security aleart" and a web page button:

Pop-up: Trend Micro-OfficeScan-- that is the title of the box and in the blue upper part it says "OfficeScan Notification Message"

Security Alert: This is coming up from the quick start bar (I think that is what it is called-- on the bottom of my screen opposite the START button)-- it says "Windows Security Alert"-- then says " Windows reports that your computer is infected. Antivirus software protects your computer from against viruses and other security threats. Click here for the scan you computer. Your system might be at risk now."

The web page button shows up on the bottom tool bar as "AV Security Suite." Sometimes this opens up to a webpage that advertises antivirus software for sale.

I cannot connect to any webpages at this point either. I get a page saying "internet explorer warning: Server has refuesed the connection due to viral activity from your computer."

Thank you in advance for any help!

Pete

Try downloading and using the SUPERAntiSpyware Portable Scanner. You can copy it over from another computer if you need to.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.
