I have a HP with a ADM 3000 2.16 GHz CPU. It was working fine until a few days ago. I brought up Windows Task Mang. and the CPU was running at %100 cap. It would do this for a few seconds and then drop back down to "normal" level. When I went to processes it was the System Idle Process that would randomly start using %93 to %97 of the CPU's total performance. What should I do. -Jeff

Nothing.

System Idle Process...is Windows' way of saying..."this percentage of your computer is not being used for anything by a program/process."

The percentages for System Idle Process should normally be high...except that those percentages indicate non-use, rather than use of the system .

What Is the System Idle Process?
