I recently encountered an issue with my desktop. First of all it will not shut down by going to start->Turn off computer->Turn off. In order to shut my computer down I have to do: start->log off->switch user->shut down.
Secondly when I boot it it takes much longer than usual, same goes with launching applications such as winamp etc. Upon booting my pc I recieve an error message which reads: C:/Documents and Settings/(my username)/Application and Data/lsass.exe not found etc.
the lsass.exe file was in fact located under system32 where it is allegedly supposed to be and I do not understand why my pc is trying to load it through that directory.
I am suspecting a worm
Windows XP Home Edition SP3
any help would be greatly appreciated.
