My computer won't recognize my Ipod 3d generation nano when I plug it into the USB port.
No recognition at all.
All other USB devices (mouse, scanner, printer) work fine.

I have done all the obvious things:
changed ports, changed wires,
tried a different ipod - it doesn't work either.
I've reinstalled the chipset drivers
I've reinstalled itunes.
I've turned the ipod service off and on.
I've gone on the apple website and done the "5 Rs"
I've taken the ipod to the apple store - they wiped the ipod, restarted it. They say it's ok, and it works fine with their computers.

Computer Dell Dimension 8250
Pentium 4
Recently installed new hard drive, Windows XP SP3
Downloaded all drivers, including chipset driver from Dell website

Help? You guys saved my life a few years ago when I had a virus.
Thanks.

Yes, it works on other machines. My post lists the obvious stuff I've done. There's some problem that's preventing the device from being detected on USB

I would try this: Revo Uninstaller to make sure that iTunes and other apple related applications are removed. After that reboot, and reinstall iTunes and other applications to see if this restores connectivity.
