Thank you sUBs, but no luck. When entering the second filepath, it still says, "check your path and try again, this file does not seem to exist." Tried it several times and was sure I typed it correctly. Also search my drives, I don't have the file "SbCIe02A.dll"

What next?

That's the buggy part of this VundoFix tool. It refuses to proceed without a valid file for the 2nd filepath.
Let's side step the issue by creating a bogus file for it to delete.

Open Notepad & type in "delete me".
Then save the file as abc.txt at the root of drive C:

Type this as the 2nd filepath - C:\abc.txt
That ought to do the trick

 sigh - no luck again. Have a cute little abc.txt file on the c:\ root but still get the same message - - "file doesn't seem to exist, exit and try again." tried re-booting and entering again for kicks - same result, even tried abc.* - - - IDEAS?

Let's try this..

Go to the folder where KillVundo.bat is located.
Right click on KillVundo.bat & select edit
Look for a line where it says.. SET vundo2=%%B
Edit it to this - SET vundo2=C:\abc.txt
Then, do the fix.

If this doesnt work, we can go to Plan C.
Don't worry.. I still have some dirty tricks up my sleeve

 no luck, same result - hoping for more "dirty tricks" - thanks so much for your help so far. . .
do I change the .bat file back to what it was?
- Mary

PS - got to run out for a few hours - will be back at this later this afternoon.

Thiis part is to be removed - FOR /F "tokens=*" %%B IN ('TYPE CON') DO

same result - doesn't ask for a second entry, but immediately defaults to the same "no such file" message. I checked, the file is in c:\ . . . . PLAN C ?

I used to do help desk support for Cobol users, miss the old days - much more simple - sniff.

Plan C

I've attached a file to this post. - [attachment=608:attachment]
Download & extract it's content to the folder where KillVundo.bat is located.
Click on KillVundo2.bat to run the fix.
This one wont ask you for a 2nd Filepath

Upon further thought, scrap the last idea.

Please show me a current HJT log.

Download and install CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan
  • Click Scan your PC & a 'pop up' window shall appear. *ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it
  • Click Scan Now
  • Enter your e-mail address & click Scan Now ...begins downloading 8 MB Panda's ActiveX controls
Begin the scan by selecting My Computer
  • If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report.
  • Click on see report. Then click Save report
Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt (if any) file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

OK, one last question before I start that - the file SbCIe02a.dll seems to be associated with a program called "sidestep" which is just a travel search tool I've used for many months without problem. Do we need to get rid of it? Sorry to be questioning the "expert!!" - Mary
