Good Day,

I recently bought a new memorex dvd player. It started acting kind of nutty at first and I thought it was a hardware problem but am now convinved it is a software problem. Basically it began not allowing DVD Decrypter to open dvds (semaphore error timed out could not open css). Next DVD FAB could not open the css on a disc. At the time I could still play them. Next day I went into wmp to see if it could open and play a dvd and I got the following error "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card".
I found out that that means a mpeg2 decoder vanished from my computer but I have re-installed an XP Codec with windows classic media player in it and it still will not open a dvd. I wanted to see if before I do a complete reinstall if anyone has any idea what the problem might be. I have installed who knows how many codecs I saw from other problems with similar errors and no avail. I do not have that computer hooked to the internet nor have I installed any new software prior to that problem. I was convinced it was a hardware problem as it occurred with the new player and never with any of the older programs but every option I have tried has failed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Nothing unusual, when it comes to WMP, garbage type of program, IMHO.
Try VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
