Hi, this isn't extremely urgent but has left me in constant paranoia.
It started about 4 days ago when i was using the internet (IE6) on my laptop (Vista Service Pack 2). I was flooded with pop-ups instructing me that my computer was infected and needed to be scanned with Anti-Malware Doctor. I immediately knew it was a virus and began searching through my files trying to find it and delete it. After going to Start>Control Panel>Programs and Features, I had found Anti-Malware Doctor and attempted to uninstall it with no success. The virus would not allow itself to be deleted by most likely staying in a constantly self-modifying state.
So this is when started searching the internet for a possible fix, and found your specific guide on Anti-Malware Doctor removal
. At this point the virus started getting worse and every few seconds it would lock down all controls, which i would have to override with the task manager. I downloaded the Rkill
application which helped a great deal and completely stopped the virus until i restarted my laptop or used the internet. Everytime I would open or use the internet in any way, a split second 'Installing' box would open up. Then it was followed by pop-up ads and constant URL redirection to random advertisment sites. Eventually i was able to download Malwarebytes
and ran a full scan of my computer. It detected 17 infections, and stated that not all could be removed. It restarted my computer and Anti-Malware Doctor
ran again at start-up. I followed the guide at least 10 more times with different results, some saying that all infections were removed, but it kept coming back upon start-up, each time with a different error 'RunDLL'
message (see screenshot below).
After doing some more reading on BC
and other websites i found out about Run>regedit (the files that begin upon start-up i'm assuming) and a few other anti-virus programs. After going to Run>regedit>Computer>HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software and deleting anti-malware doctor. Then I installed and scanned with both Hitman Pro 3.5 (30 day trial) and Malwarebytes, deleting all of the viruses they found. Now this is where i'm at currently. After rebooting my laptop, I still recieve the RunDLL error (see below), but Anti-Malware Doctor seems to be gone, and I am not redirected from sites as far as i know. After doing a couple scans, no infections are detected, but i am still getting pop-ups every so often.
So I have a few questions, but one at a time, right?
What does this error message mean and how can I stop it?
Oh and this isn't my exact error, mine says Error loading vuczkizx.dll
And of course any help is greatly appreciated and if you need any clarification or further details don't hesitate 'cause I know my question is a bit of a jumble
