Removing Data Footprints from Vista

Can anyone give me a good free program to remove some company? data from a laptop that will be given to another person -
I do not have the make or model , and I do not think they have a Recovery Disc from the origonal unit -
This unit will be given to a junior family member but down the line the data on it must be removed somewhere -

Why not just do a fresh install of the OS?

I did a reinstall (found the discs) then still needed the drivers as only half of them were on the reinstall driver disc -
