Greetings from LeonSprings, Texas USofA,
Have been using these cyclops for about 25 years and all I know and do to my system has come from the school-of-hard-knocks not any formal schooling. I am a Journeyman Electronics Techy with about 65 years experience and annalist added to that title. So when my system presented a BSOD I immediately started annulizing the problem. Have managed to keep my systems going by HELP from various forums and good Friends that understood I wanted to "do it myself" and I did. Moved from Buroughs TOS to DOS and beyond, like Win3.1 - 95 - 98 - 98SE - Windows XP - Vista SP1-2 (all to here were either 16bit or 32bit) - Win7 64Bit. I installed my own systems from Win95 through Win7 without any difficulty. Had one crash that I could not recover, Win98SE October, 2004 had to reformat and re-install. Took several weeks to get back up. All of that up through WinXP was using a dialup, from Vista up to now on DSL (768Kbps) or HighSpeed (3Mbps). Have used several different FireWalls (ZA, Symantec, McAfee, Comodo, etc.) and AntiVirus software as well. Now using Microsoft FireWall & MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) plus Alwil Software Avast! 5 FREE.
If you are wondering, I am over 70 years old and have worked in the electronic field since before graduating from High School built my own portable radio before the transistors and diodes were invented, about 1948. Anything else you would like to know about, just ask, and ye shall receive.
Thank you for reading my ramblings and roasted poster,
