I have a home built HTPC, using MSI mobo AMD Athlon II, MSI GF210 gpu w/ HDMI, running on Win 7 Pro 32bit. I recently switched it form Win XP to Win7 doing a complete wipe, clean install, all current drivers, etc. It had been working perfectly since I redid it 2 weeks ago, 5.1 sound passthru to my Panasonic digital AVR. Playing .mkv via Boxee & XBMC.
Yesterday however, when starting a 5.1 .mkv file, I got the "failed to initiate auiod device" error msg, and of course no audio. I can play all non-surround (analog) formats fine.
I went into control panel/sounds to see what I could find, and noticed that under configuration there are no long any other selctions to choose from except stereo now. Before there were several options, like 5.1, 7.1 etc. I tried uninstalling the drivers & re-doing them but same result. To my knowledge, I haven't changed anything else on this PC.
I just got a new HDTV & am dying to get this working as it did before.

Thanks in advance for an yideas that might fix this.
