I have a user here at my office where anytime she tries to use the windows search within a folder or windows explorer window. It blows up with "Unexpected error - must close" if she clicks any of the buttons on the error window, it closes the explorer.exe shell. She can move the error window out of the way and use it, but that just gets messy.

PC Info -

Win XP Pro SP1 (SP2 not an option due to business apps)

1gb ram

things i've done so far...

checked the event log

ran a SFC (System file check) with the xp CD.

cleaned spyware using Adaware and Spybot

thoughts?

I was going to try and reinstall SP1 and see what that does.
