Remote Access Connection...

If you are using remote Access Connection to connect to a computer that is at your friend's house, can you open a file on their computer by using a program on YOUR computer WITHOUT moving their file to your desktop?

I'm trying to open a file through remote access connection but the remote computer does not have the program to open it. My computer does
