Several months ago, I was on FaceBook, and believe someone was able to get into my computer. McAfee is my preferred security provider, and when I started up my computer the next day, I got the message that McAfee stopped working and cannot open. When I tried to uninstall McAfee to reinstall, I received an error msg. also, and it would not let me complete the uninstall. I also tried to uninstall McAfee virtual technicion program and rec'd the following error today: c:\windows\installer\mvt_en-us(1).msi

I have since installed Avast for protection until I can solve this problem. I believe I have encountered a virus or trojan and need help on how to get rid of it so I can run my programs without a problem.

Hello and welcome. I am moving this from Vista to the Am I Infected forum for scanning.

It appears you may have this infection.
Please follow our Removal Guide here Remove Antispyware Soft (Uninstall Guide)
You will move to the Automated Removal Instructions

After you completed that, post your scan log here, let me know how things are.
The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.
How do I get help? Who is helping me?For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear....Become a BleepingComputer fan: Facebook
