Thanks for the information. I have followed the directions on the website unfortunately it didn't work, I get the exact same error as before. Do you have any other ideas? Microsoft's site does nothing to help. I am at a loss as to where to go from here. I think I have a virus or something that is blocking it. I have ran my anti virus multiple times and it always comes up empty.

I had the same problem - turned out to be malware. You can try http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx ...

That error is a Windows Update site error.

80072EFE ERROR_INTERNET_CONNECTION_ABORTED, Some network problem or the server/proxy reset the socket connection.

Try downloading manually...one does not have to use the WUS to obtain downloads of critical updates.

This was an update I received recently. It would "seem" to bear out problems you may be having. This is why I prefer Linux. MS is in the money business and just too intrusive. Hope it helps somehow.
