My sister is having a problem with start up. It says that the
windows/system32/config/system is either missing or corrupt. It wont
stay in safe mode & she has already tried to boot from the original CD
& it wont go into that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. She can
go to her sons house to download whats needed on a usb flash or make
a cd. Thanks

Hi , unfortunately that's typical Windows problem.

Reading materilal:

Corrupted Registry, Config.sys Missing or Corrupt - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545

A previous instance of this error in this forum can be viewed (for comparative purposes) at Corrupted Registry - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/205375/unable-to-use-recovery-console-bsod/.

When I've had this error...none of the given solutions ever worked to my satisfaction and I just chose to do a clean install of XP.
