hi,
i have windows xp pro sp3. The problem is windows says did not pass windows genuine validation, however this is a purchased copy of windows and it is genuine! it sends me to a 'microsoft ?' site that asks for $149.00!
is this an infection? i have heard of them giving an 800- number to call if this is not correct.
The screen stays black and there is a nag in the lower right system tray about 'genuine advantage' this started a few month ago.
any help is appreciated.

Hello,

Sounds like you've got a real bad one aboard that will require specialized tools to remove. I'm editing your topic title to include the word "fake". That is definitely a bogus message. Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to try to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
