Hello,

It's better to print out the next instructions or save it in notepad, because you also have to work in safe mode without networking support, so this page wouldn't be available then.
It is also important you don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order!!
I can't stress enough how important this is, because otherwise if the steps are not performed, you missed some or didn't perform it in the right order, this fix will fail!

* Go to start > controlpanel > software > add/remove Programs and uninstall next:

SurfsideKick <== they will ask you for a code to enter in the field. You'll find the code in the same screen.
NewDotNet or New.net Domains or New.Net
CMSystem
FCEngine
CAS Client
Viewpoint
Spyware Killer Pro
<== this is a so called SpyRemover with a really bad reputation.

REBOOT afterwards!!! Important!!

* Download and install CCleaner
Do not use it yet.

* Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

* Please download ewido:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Let it update, but don't let it scan yet!!

* If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Don't run it yet!

* Please download AproposFix from here:
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/aproposfix.exe
Save it to your desktop but do NOT run it yet !!

* Reboot into Safe Mode`: ( without networking support !)
°To get into the Safe mode as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key". Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

* Double-click aproposfix.exe.
This will create a new folder on your desktop called aproposfix.
Open the aproposfix folder on your desktop and run RunThis.bat.
Follow the prompts.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following if still present:

Hello,
You didn't post the log.txt I asked you (present in the aproposfix-folder)

Please perform next also..

Download FindQoologic.zip save it to your Desktop.
http://downloads.subratam.org/Find-Qoologic.zip

Extract (unzip) the files inside into their own folder called FindQoologic.
Read here how to unzip/extract properly:
http://metallica.geekstogo.com/xpcompressedexplanation.html

Open the FindQoologic folder. Preferable to your desktop.
Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat file to run it.
Choose option 1 for Run Findqoologic by typing 1 and pressing enter.
This will scan your system.
Wait until a text opens.
Post this in your next reply together with the log from aproposfix.
If you didn't perform this fix, remember it has to be done in Safe Mode, I don't need a log from it if you ran it in normal mode, because it won't show what I need and won't fix your problem in normal mode.

Hello,
You didn't post the log.txt I asked you (present in the aproposfix-folder)

Here's the problem, I umm, deleted the folder before I retrieved the log file. I ran the scan again, but there was nothing in the log the second time around. Here is the log from Qoologic:

Check for missing files
.....
C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUTOEXEC.NT not there
.....
End check for missing files
.....
VXD Check
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers]
"VDD"=hex(7):00
.....
End vxd check
Please post this in the forum

Aaah, now I know why aproposfix also failed. I'll let you use aproposfix afterwards again. Let's first deal with qoologic and the error you are getting..

Doubleclick FindQoologic.bat again and choose option 2 by typing 2 and pressing enter.
This will open your browser where you have to download the fix to restore this auoexec.nt-error. Make sure you choose the right version for your system.
Then doubleclick Findqoologic.bat again and Choose option 1 for Run Findqoologic by typing 1 and pressing enter.
This will scan your system.
Wait until a text opens.
Post this in your next reply.

Autoexec.nt has been fixed. Qoologic scan ran better this time.

Ok, please perform next exactly as described!!

* Download Killbox.
Click killbox.exe.
Select the option "Delete on reboot".

Now copy the next bold:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\LKLLXG.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\BCBBXNR.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\JDJJR.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SDSSFJK.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\PQPPG.DAT
C:\WINDOWS\VBVVEO.DAT
C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\STARTM~1\PROGRAMS\STARTUP\NDNN.EXE

Open 'file' in the killboxmenu on top and choose Paste from clipboard

Now you will see, this is pasted in the "Full Path of File to Delete"-field.
There's a little arrow (dropdown-arrow) next to that field.
If you expand it, these lines must be there together if the files are present!

Then press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it.
Killbox will tell you that all listed files will be deleted on next reboot.. Click YES
When it asks if you would like to Reboot now, click YES
If you don't get that message, reboot manually.
Click No at the Pending Operations prompt.

Your computer must reboot now.

After reboot,
Check and fix next entries in hijackthis:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {02EE5B04-F144-47BB-83FB-A60BD91B74A9} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winsync] C:\WINDOWS\system32\lkllxg.exe reg_run

Then, doubleclick Findqoologic.bat again and Choose option 1 for Run Findqoologic by typing 1 and pressing enter.
Post the log you'll get together with a new hijackthislog.

Ok, good. Now let's take care of the eftovers and deal with apropos afterwards.

Open notepad and copy and paste next bold in it:
(don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4)

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\fgffsntf]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{1b996b1b-4011-4311-9b6d-449bf644262b}]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{6EC11407-5B2E-4E25-8BDF-77445B52AB37}]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shellex\ColumnHandlers\{6EC11407-5B2E-4E25-8BDF-77445B52AB37}]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\qstat]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\{9E248641-0E24-4DDB-9A1F-705087832AD6}]

Save this as fix.reg Choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
This is how the regfix must look afterwards: Posted Image
Doubleclick on it and when it asks you if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click yes/ok.

Because you told me you already deleted Aproposfix, let's download it again..

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download AproposFix from here:
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/aproposfix.exe

Save it to your desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Then please reboot your computer in Safe Mode
This is really important it has to be done in safe mode!!!

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click aproposfix.exe.
This will create a new folder on your desktop called aproposfix.
Open the aproposfix folder on your desktop and run RunThis.bat. Follow the prompts.

When the tool is finished, please reboot back into normal mode, and post the entire contents of the log.txt file in the aproposfix folder.

Aaah, that explains why this log is empty. You ran it before.
Well, that infection is gone also.... and I see a clean hijakthislog.

How are things running now?

To keep this clean in the future, I would suggest the following things:

Install Spywareblaster
SpywareBlaster doesn`t scan and clean for so-called spyware, but prevents it from being installed in the first place. It blocks the popular spyware ActiveX controls, and also prevents the installation of any of them via a webpage.

Avoid illegal sites, because that's where most malware is present.

Let your antispywarescanner(s) scan frequently and don't forget to update before.

And I do suggest you perform an online virusscan once in a while. (Housecall and/or Bitdefender). Because what one virusscanner can't find another one maybe can.
Also make sure that your virusscanner, the one that is installed on your system is always up to date!

Make sure your windows has the latest updates: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

If you are having XP SP2, read here how to configure Security Features for Internet Explorer:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...xp/iesecxp.mspx

More info on how to prevent malware you can also find here (By Tony Klein)

System seems to be pretty stable now. IE functions as advertised. Thanks for the help! The HJT team does an outstanding job.
