I am pretty sure you DO NOT need to go through the trouble of doing that unless you are installing a new AV to replace your old one

Your AV shouldn't interfere with an online scan like Eset, but if you're worried, you can temporarily disable your active protection while the scan is running.

There is no reason to completely uninstall your AV.

Thanks for getting back to me. Another scan can't hurt.

Well I'm happy to report that I did a ESET scan; no problems found. It took a very long time. I hope that means it looked in all the hiding places. Thanks again to both of you.

Q2: Why does the ESET Online Scanner run slowly on my computer?

A2: If you have other anti-virus, anti-spyware or anti-malware programs running on your computer, they may intercept the scan being performed by the ESET Online Scanner and slow it down. You may wish to disable the real-time protection components of your other security software before running the ESET Online Scanner. Remember to turn them back on after you are finished!

I turned off my all ready loaded anti-virus and then scanned. I took 1 hour and 32 minutes. Normal is 21 minutes.I'm still happy it didn't find any thing. Thanks for your replies.
