My parents were using a little handheld camera about four inches high and one inch wide silver. No model number on the camera anywhere. On the front of the camera in blue letters it has the word DIGITAL in caps. The camera looks, like it cost a quarter. It connects by USB and I am running Vista and XP, not sure if it is capatable. When I plug into computer it does not recognize camera. Whre can I get a generic driver so I can get the pictures off the camera.

To make matters worse the pictures on the camera are meaningful........

Thanks..... I am more than happy to send you a picture via e-mail....

No such thing as a generic driver for cameras, AFAIK.

Some have drivers, some are Plug and Play.

You need a camera model number to have a chance of finding out what needs to be done.

You did turn the camera on, once it was connected via USB?

Yes and Yes. I did hear a ping sound when connected but could not see device. Does that mean it is only supported by a later operating system?

...and you did use the Camera/Scanner Wizard (in Control Panel) to try to detect the camera?

What happened?

I tried the Camera/Scanner Wizard no luck...... Like I stated I can hear it connect , my computer makes a ping sound.... I just cannot see it anywhere. The camera looks like it cost a quarter no information on it at all. I am thinking it is not compatible with XP or vista. The only word on the camera is it says DIGITAL in BLUE...no number codes lettering of any type.

If anyone has further information, can I send you a picture... Then you will see what I am dealing with...

No it has become a serious challenge to remove the pictures.

Caperdog:

Couple of questions....

How did you find the camera? Is there a way to search web by picture?

Looking at the specs. Transmission Interface: USB Interface Revision 1.1 If I am running USB 2.0 would this be the problem?

I e-mailed queensline.. it states camera is compatible with XP... I asked them for a driver, super longshot

I cannot attached to Linux until Wednesday.....

THANKS for all your help !!!!

Buckoeye:

Couple of answers...

when i saw the clip on the camera i went to google images and typed in "pen size digital camera" and found they were called pen type. so search for "pen type digital camera" led me to that one. more of a fluke than anything.

USB 2.0 is backwards compatible to USB 1.1 meaning it will work.

Your welcome and good luck
