A friend with whom I've been chatting with online for many years recently told me that she had switched from MSN Messenger (current incarnation is Messenger Live) to something called Pidgeon [sic].

She's using Linux, but I use Vista.

Can anyone comment on this program? Pros, cons, etc?

Pidgin is one of several IM clients that can be used with multiple IM services. I only use Yahoo Messenger but I could see how it could be useful for someone using Yahoo, MSN, AOL etc. I don't think it's necessary if you only use MSN.
