Hello, I need some help with my PC. My PC is an ACER laptop, windows XP SP3. Just last week I had a virus and had it removed with the help of this website "myantispyware". After the removal, I realized I had some problems like google searches being redirected and windows update not working. I had those fixed here in this forum. But there is still one more problem. My PC will not hibernate. This happened right after I removed the virus I had last week. When I click on hibernate, a screen comes up for a few seconds saying "preparing to hibernate" and then it returns back to windows. Nothing happens. Restart, shut down, and standby works fine but not hibernate. Please help me! I hate having to shut down my PC everytime. Thank you in advance. Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks for the very quick reply. But how do I reinstall my video driver? The link you gave me is to update the driver. Is that the same thing? Thanks.

tth,

It is possible that you may not have enough RAM for hibernate to work. When my computer was new in 05 hibernate worked fine, as I added a few programs it quit working. As different symptoms appeared I started searching for answers. I finally figured it out as a memory problem, when I increased the RAM from 512 to 2.5 all my functionally came back. Start up and shutdown speeds improved stand by and hibernate became functioning parts again.
