Last week I picked up the browser redirect / hijack virus, which it seems everyone is very familiar with. I tried a number of different things from a number of different sites, nothing has worked. It seemed like there was no quick and simple fix to this annoying virus so I came to Bleeping Computer because a couple of months ago I picked up another virus and the tutorial to run Malwarebytes that was offered on this site worked like a charm. What I ended up trying to do was run ComboFix...yes, I ignored the warning not to do this unless you were instructed to and proceeded to try and do it on my own. I dowdloaded ComboFix to my desktop, double clicked the icon, I got the "Disclaimer of Warranty" box and clicked "Yes" as instructed...and then nothing happened. I thought, "Well, maybe something's happening and I just don't realize it." So I left it alone for the entire night, but hours later still nothing was happening. So I decided to double click on the icon again, I got a little load bar, and then I got a message that read, "Some files cannot be created. Close all the windows and reboot." Can anybody help!? I am not a computer genius...as should have been evident by me ignoring the warnings to not attempt to use ComboFix on your own...but I do need my computer. How do I get ComboFix to run properly, OR is there another way to get rid of this damn browser redirect virus that a computer simpleton such as myself can handle? Any help and/or sympathy is greatly appreciated : ) Thanks!
