windows 7 labtop stuck in sleep mode how to wake up?

SO my labtop was working fine I changed the setting to sleep when on plugged in for an hour. It did but now wont wake up. The screen stays bacl but the lights turn on and you can hear the fans spinning. I have tryed holding the power button un plugged, plugged in and with out the battery in. I have a toshiba satellite l455 running windows 7 what can I do?

Okay, to confirm your previous actions...please do the following:

Unplug the power cable > remove the battery > hold down the power button for a couple seconds > reinsert battery > plug in power cable > press power button once

What do you get now?

I have the same setting (sleep) on mine. I wake it by left click on the mouse.
